PROSPECT — Mr. Antonio Ruocco, 82, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Waterbury Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Maria (Teta) Ruocco.
Tony was born in Agerola,
He moved to Waterbury from Italy in 1968 and lived in Prospect since 2008.
He worked at Duracell Battery Inc. for many years and then for the City of Waterbury School Department until his retirement in 1992.
He enjoyed his many annual summer trips to the Almalfi coast in Italy . He was an avid gardener, starting his garden for his family before his trip and continuing in Italy . His most enjoyable time was spent with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Maria, of 42 years, he leaves a daughter, RoseMary Ruocco-Cyr and her husband, Jeffrey Cyr, of Prospect; two cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Giuliana Cyr of Prospect; a sister, Filomena Fusco of Italy; two brothers-in-law, Mario Teta and his wife, Donna, of Wolcott, Giovanni Teta and his wife, Giulia, of Waterbury; three sisters-in-law, Esterina Rousseau and her husband, Ronald, of Northfield, Nancy Ciarleglio of Oakville, and Elvira Botte and her husband, Sam, of Wolcott; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased are his sisters, Rosa and Anna Ruocco, a brother, Elio Ruocco, and two brothers-in-law, Giuseppe Teta and his wife, Apollonia, and Riccardo Ciarleglio.
Arrangements: Funeral 8 a.m. Saturday from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, to St. Anthony's Church, Prospect, for a Mass at 9 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Friday from to at the funeral home.
